Invega (Generic name: Paliperidone) ER is a atypical antipsychotic medication for the acute and maintenance treatment of schizophrenia – a brain disorder that impairs a person’s ability to think, relate to others, and distinguish between reality and imagination. Invega is approved for the treatment of schizoaffective disorder either as monotherapy or adjunctive therapy to mood stabilizers and/or antidepressants. Paliperidone works by readjusting the balance of chemicals in the brain that are involved in schizophrenia. Take oral Invega exactly as it was prescribed for you.
The most common Invega side effects include anxiety, constipation, dizziness, drowsiness, dry mouth, loss of appetite, muscle weakness, nausea, restlessness, runny nose, stomach pain, vomiting, and extrapyramidal disorder. If you experience any severe side effects or allergic reactions, check with your doctor as soon as possible.
Do NOT take Invega if you are allergic to Paliperidone or Risperidone or any of the ingredients of Invega medication. Invega is NOT approved for the treatment of patients with dementia-related psychosis. Before taking Invega, tell your doctor about your medical conditions, especially of: breast cancer, diabetes, epilepsy, heart rhythm problems, high or low blood pressure, intestinal disorder, kidney or liver disease. Tell your doctor about all the prescriptions and non-prescription drugs you are taking, especially of: antidepressants, antihistamines, anti-seizures, drugs for high blood pressure, muscle relaxants, narcotic pain relievers, and psychiatric medicines. Consult with your doctor if you are pregnant or breast-feeding.
