Glucotrol (Glipizide) is a prescription medication used to control blood sugar levels. High blood sugar levels occur when the body does not produce enough insulin or cannot use it effectively to process blood sugar. The active ingredient in Glucotrol is Glipizide. Glipizide belongs to a class of medications called sulfonylureas. It works by stimulating insulin release from the pancreas, helping your body store blood sugar. This allows your body to lower blood sugar and restore how you use food to make energy.
