Fosamax Plus D (Alendronate) is used to treat and prevent osteoporosis. This medication is used to treat certain types of bone loss and to increase bone mass. Fosamax Plus D is a combination of two medications Alendronate and Cholecalciferol (Vitamin D3). Alendronate belongs to a class of medications called bisphosphonates and it works by slowing bone loss to help maintain strong bones and reduce the risk of fractures. Vitamin D3 helps your body absorb calcium and builds healthy bones.

Our Canadian Pharmacy currently offers the brand Fosamax Plus D also called Fosavance from Canada manufactured by Merck. The generic Alendronate comes from Canada manufactured by a different manufacturer. Fosamax Plus D is available in the strength of 70 mg/5600 IU and 70 mg/2800 IU.
The common side effects of Fosamax Plus D may include constipation, diarrhea, gas, nausea and stomach pain.
Talk to your doctor right away if you have any of the serious side effects such as:
• Black or tarry stools;
• Increased or severe joint or muscle pain;
• Jaw or ear pain;
• New or unusual hip, thigh or groin pain;
• Swelling of joints;
• Vomit that looks like coffee grounds

You should not take Fosamax Plus D if you are allergic to Alendronate/Vitamin D3 or if you have any other allergies. Some people taking Alendronate/Vitamin D3 may have serious jawbone problems. Your doctor should check your mouth before you start this medication. This medication is not recommended for use in children. Pregnant women or women planning to become pregnant in the future should be very cautious. Alendronate may stay in your body for many years. Cholecalciferol (Vitamin D3) passes into breast milk. It is unknown if Alendronate passes into breast milk. Talk to your doctor before breast-feeding.
