Flexeril (Cyclobenzaprine) is a muscle relaxant that is combines with rest and physical therapy to treat skeletal muscle conditions such as pain, injury or spasms. This medication works by blocking nerve impulses or pain sensations that are sent to your brain which helps to relax the muscles. Flexeril is usually taken once daily for only 2 to 3 weeks.

The common side effects of Flexeril may include constipation, dizziness, drowsiness, dry mouth, headache, nausea, tiredness and upset stomach.
Stop using the medication and talk to your doctor right away if you have any of the serious side effects such as:
• Balance problems;
• Chest pain or pressure;
• Fast or irregular heartbeats;
• Pain spreading to your jaw or shoulder;
• Slurred speech;
• Sudden numbness or weakness

You should not drive, use machinery or do anything that requires you to be alert until you can do it safely. Avoid alcoholic beverages. Talk to your doctor if you are using marijuana. Older adults have an increased risk of falling because drowsiness and confusion as they may be more sensitive to the side effects of this medication. Flexeril should not be used during pregnancy unless it is clearly needed. It is unknown if this medication passes into breast milk. Talk to your doctor before breast-feeding.
