Flagystatin (Nystatin/Metronidazole) is a prescription medication used to treat fungi and bacteria infections of the vagina, including candidiasis. The active ingredients in Flagystatin are Nystatin and Metronidazole. Nystatin belongs to a class of medicine called polyenes, while metronidazole is an antibiotic. Metronidazole kills bacteria, whereas Nystatin's active component kills the fungi that cause the infection. You should not use it without talking to your doctor or pharmacist.

Get medical help immediately if you have any of these signs of an allergic reaction while taking Flagystatin. The most common side effects of Flagystatin may include:
• Dry mouth;
• Hearing loss;
• Headache;
• Irritation of the vulva;
• Metallic state;
• Trouble sleeping;
• Vomiting

Contact your doctor right away if you have any of the serious side effects, including:
• Bleeding from the virginal;
• Confusion;
• Irrational thought, including the thought of self-harm;
• Severe chest pain;
• Worsening of your condition

Flagystatin comes as a vaginal ovule with applicators and should be used vaginally. It would be best to wear a sanitary napkin during the treatment to prevent the drug from staining your clothes. Use the vaginal ovule as prescribed by your doctor. When applying this product, you may feel a slight irritation at first. If the irritation worsens or continues longer than a few minutes, consult your doctor or pharmacist. Continue using this medication even if you are menstruating. You should limit your alcoholic beverages while using Flagystatin vaginal ovule. Consuming alcohol while using Flagystatin may cause vomiting and painful cramps. Inform your doctor if there is no improvement in your condition. Before you start taking this medication, tell your doctor about your medical history, especially if you:
• Are breastfeeding or plan to breastfeed;
• Are pregnant or plan to become pregnant;
• Have had episodes of depression or seizures;
• Have difficulty making urine;
• Have kidney problems;
• Have liver disease

Tell your doctor immediately if you become pregnant or think you may be pregnant. Flagystatin should not be used during pregnancy unless the benefits outweigh the risks. The applicator should not be used after the seventh month of pregnancy. Metronidazole passes into breast milk. If you are breastfeeding and are using Flagystatin vaginal ovule (Metronidazole/Nystatin), it may affect your baby. Talk to your doctor about whether you should continue breastfeeding. There may be a drug interaction between Flagystatin vaginal ovule (Metronidazole/Nystatin) and other medications, including lithium, phenytoin, warfarin, cyclosporine and busulphan. It is unknown if Flagystatin is safe and effective in children. Store the vaginal ovules at room temperature between 15 - 25ºC and protect them from light. Keep the drugs and their applicators away from the reach of children.
