Evorel (Estradiol) is a prescription medication used to relieve symptoms of menopause. During menopause, estrogen levels drop, causing symptoms such as hot flashes, vaginal problems, and painful sexual intercourse. The drug may also be used to prevent osteoporosis in women who have had menopause and are likely to have bone problems. The active ingredient in Evorel is Estradiol. Estradiol belongs to a class of medications called estrogens. It works by replacing the estrogen that is normally released by the ovaries.

Evorel will harm an unborn baby. If you become pregnant while using this medicine, remove the patch and contact your doctor immediately. Evorel is for postmenopausal women only. Inform your doctor if you are breastfeeding or planning to breastfeed. Estradiol passes into breast milk in trace amounts but is unlikely to harm your nursing infant. Use this medicine exactly as your doctor prescribes. Evorel comes as a transdermal patch. When you open the protective pouch, apply the patch to clean, dry, and cool skin. Stick the patch to a hairless area of skin below the waist. Do not apply on or near the breasts. Do not use cream, moisturizer, or talc before applying the patch. Do not apply on irritated skin. Change the patches twice a week to give your body a steady supply of hormones. Change your patch on the same two days every week. This means one patch is for three days while the other is for four days. Do not apply the patch on the same skin area twice in a row. If a patch falls off, apply a new patch but keep to your original "patch change" days. Evorel is not a contraceptive. Use non-hormonal contraceptives until your periods have completely stopped. You can bathe or shower as usual. However, do not scrub too hard to prevent loosening the patch's edges. You can exercise and play sports but do not wear the patch under tight clothing or waistbands. Store Evorel below 250C, away from light and moisture. Keep out of the reach of children.
