Drisdol Drops (Ergocalciferol Drops) is an over-the-counter medication used to help your body absorb calcium and phosphorus. Your body needs calcium and phosphorus to build and maintain strong bones. Drisdol is also used to treat hypoparathyroidism (decreased functioning of the parathyroid glands). The medicine is also used to treat rickets (softening of the bones caused by vitamin D deficiency) or low levels of phosphate in the blood (hypophosphatemia). The active ingredient in Drisdol Drops is Ergocalciferol Drops. Ergocalciferol Drops or Vitamin D2 belong to a class of drugs called vitamin D analogs. It works by increasing the amount of calcium and phosphorus absorbed by the intestine and reabsorbed by the kidneys.
