There may be drug interactions between the Dexcom G6 and other medicines, such as hydroxyurea, acetaminophen, etc. Tell your doctor if you are pregnant or planning to become pregnant. Using this medicine during pregnancy is not expected to harm an unborn baby. Inform your doctor if you are breastfeeding or planning to breastfeed. Dexcom G6 is a device that is not expected to pass into breast milk or harm your nursing infant. Use this device precisely as your doctor prescribes. Wash your hands with soap and water before opening the sensor package. Clean the area where you plan to insert the sensor with alcohol wipes. Please wait until the skin is dry before inserting the sensor to help it stay attached to the skin. Keep the safety guard on the Dexcom G6 applicator until you're ready to use it. To use the Dexcom G6, download and open the G6 app on a compatible smart device. You may also use the G6 receiver as your display device instead of downloading the app, or you can choose to use both devices. Follow the onscreen instructions provided on your selected display device to insert your sensor and attach your transmitter. After a 2-hour warmup period, your G6 system will be ready for use. The Dexcom G6 system provides glucose readings every 5 minutes and sends this data to the G6 app or G6 receiver via Bluetooth. Colour indicators and trend arrows are provided with each glucose reading. The Dexcom G6 can also notify you if you may be at risk of experiencing a severe low or high glucose event and can warn you up to 20 minutes before a severe low with a predictive alert. Wear the sensors for the Dexcom G6 system continuously, but replace them every 10 days. You will receive alerts on your display device to replace the sensor starting 24 hours before your sensor session ends. Replace the transmitters every 3 months. You will receive alerts on your display device to replace the transmitter 3weeks before the battery expires. For people 18 years and older, insert the sensor into the abdomen or the back of the upper arms. For people between 2 to 17 years of age, insert the sensor into the abdomen or upper buttocks. Insert the sensors at least 8 cm away from injection sites. It's best to insert sensors away from the waistband, scars, tattoos, irritated skin, bony areas, or any locations where they might get pushed or laid on while sleeping. Store this device at room temperature, away from light and moisture. Keep out of the reach of children.
