Cymbalta (Duloxetine) belongs to the class of medications called selective serotonin and norepinephrine reuptake inhibitor antidepressant (SSNRI). It is used to treat depression and generalized anxiety disorder. It can also be used to treat diabetes related nerve pain, fibromyalgia, chronic low back pain, and chronic pain from osteoarthritis of the knee. For depression, it works by affecting the chemicals in the brain that may become unbalanced and cause depression. For certain types of pain, it affects the balance of chemicals in the brain and spinal cord that are involved in the experience of pain. The most prescribed dose for Cymbalta is 60 mg administered once daily.

We currently have the brand from Australia, Canada, and Turkey by Boehringer Ingelheim and Eli Lilly. The generic Duloxetine from Canada manufactured by Aura Pharma or Pharma Science or Mint, also known as Auro-Duloxetine or Pms-Duloxetine. The generic Cymbalta is also called Duzela manufactured in India by Sun Pharma. It may come from other suppliers. Cymbalta is available in tablets of 20 mg, 30 mg, 40 mg, and 60 mg strengths.
Call your doctor at once if you have any of these serious side effects:
• Agitation, hallucinations, fever, fast heart rate, overactive reflexes, vomiting, diarrhea, etc.
• Easy bruising, unusual bleeding;
• Feeling dizzy;
• Nausea, upper stomach pain, itching, loss of appetite, dark urine, clay-colored stools, jaundice;
• Overactive thoughts or behavior;
• Severe skin reaction- fever, sore throat, swelling in your face or tongue, burning in your eyes;
• Very stiff (rigid) muscles, high fever, sweating, confusion, tremors
Less serious side effects include:
• Constipation;
• Drowsiness;
• Dry mouth;
• Mild nausea or loss of appetite;
• Tired feeling
Talk to your doctor before you take any medication for pain, arthritis, fever or swelling. This includes aspirin, ibuprofen, naproxen, celecoxib, diclofenac, etc. Taking these medications with Cymbalta may cause you to bruise or bleed easily. Taking Cymbalta with other medications that make you sleepy of slow your breathing can increase these effects. There are many drugs that interact with Cymbalta such as a blood thinner such as warfarin, Coumadin, buspirone, lithium, tramadol, an antibiotic such as ciprofloxacin or any other antidepressant such as paroxetine, etc. Inform your doctor about all the medications you are taking.
