Clomid (Clomiphene Citrate) is prescription medication used to stimulate ovulation in women who have ovulatory dysfunction. Clomiphene is an oral fertility drug used to induce ovulation (egg production) in women who do not produce ova (eggs) and wish to become pregnant. It works by stimulating the growth of the ovarian follicle and initiating ovulation. Clomid is widely used as a first line treatment to help women ovulate each month. Clomid is also used by men to help improve several aspects of male fertility, including low testosterone levels, hormone ratios, and sperm count. Clomid works in men by binding to estrogen receptors and blocking the effect of estrogen. This causes increased production of follicle-stimulating hormone (FSH) and luteinizing hormone (LH). The additional FSH acts on the Sertoli cells of the testes to stimulate sperm production. Take Clomid exactly prescribed.
