Champix (Varenicline Tartrate) is a prescription medication that is used to help people quit smoking when nicotine replacement therapy has not worked or is not suitable. Varenicline belongs to the class of medications called smoking cessation therapies. It works by blocking nicotine’s effects in the brain that make you want to smoke. Champix should be used with a stop-smoking program that includes education and counselling. Quitting smoking will lower your risk of heart and lung disease and cancer.

Canadian Pharmacy King currently offers the brand Champix from Canada manufactured by Pfizer. There is no generic available at this time. Champix is available as a 4 week starter kit (0.5mg/11 tabs & 1mg/42 tabs) and continuation pack (0.5mg/56 tabs) or (1mg/56 tabs).
The most common side effects of Champix may include:
• Constipation;
• Gas;
• Nausea;
• Sleep problems;
• Vomiting
Talk to your doctor as soon as possible if you have any of the following side effects and they are severe or bothersome:
• Difficulty concentrating;
• Flatulence;
• Sleep disturbance;
• Unusual tiredness or weakness

You should not take Champix if you are allergic to Varenicline or if you have any other allergies. Before you start taking this medication, talk to your doctor about your medical history especially if you have kidney disease, mental or mood disorders, heart or blood vessel disease or seizures. This medication may make you dizzy, drowsy, lose consciousness or make it difficult to concentrate. Alcohol and marijuana can worsen these effects. You should not drive, use machinery or do any activity that requires you to be alert. This medication may also make you more sensitive to alcohol. Limit alcoholic beverages. Champix should not be used during pregnancy unless it is clearly needed. It is unknown if this medication passes into breast milk.
