Carnitor (Levocarnitine) is a prescription medication used to treat and prevent low levels of carnitine in the blood. Carnitine is a small protein that binds to and transports fatty acids within your body's cells to produce energy. Your body makes carnitine from meat and dairy products. Carnitine deficiency is a condition that prevents your body from using certain fats for energy and causes a variety of symptoms, such as severe brain dysfunction, muscle weakness, and low blood sugar. The active ingredient in Carnitor is Levocarnitine. Levocarnitine belongs to a class of drugs called neutraceutical products. It supplements the body with carnitine to help turn the fats you eat into energy.
