Canasa (Mesalamine) rectal suppository is a prescription medication that is used to treat active ulcerative proctitis. Mesalamine is the active ingredient in Canasa. This medication works by affecting the substances in the body that cause inflammation, tissue damage and diarrhea.

We currently have the brand Canasa also called Salofalk from Canada manufactured by Axcan Pharma. It may come from other suppliers around the world. Canasa is available in the strength of 500mg and 1000mg suppositories. Our Canadian Pharmacy also carries Pentasa Extended Release tablets, enema and suppositories.

The common side effects may include:
• Constipation, rectal pain;
• Dizziness, fatigue, headache;
• Fever, sore throat and other flu-like symtoms;
• Mild nausea, diarrhea, gas, vomiting, stomach cramps;
• Skin rash
