Brethine Turbuhaler (Terbutaline) is used to treat asthma, bronchitis, and emphysema. Brethine is a bronchodilator and it works by opening the bronchioles of the lungs by relaxing the muscles around them. This allows the air to flow easily in and out of the lungs.

Brethine is also known as Bricanyl manufactured in Canada and UK by AstraZeneca. It is available in the forms of turbuhaler and tablets, strengths of 0.5mg/100 dose, 0.5mg/200 dose, and 5mg.

Do not use Brethine if you are allergic to any ingredient in Brethine or to a sympathomimetic amine or you need to treat prolonged premature labor. Before you start taking the medication, inform your doctor about your medical condition and about all the medications you are currently taking including OTC and herbal medications. There may be an interaction between Brethine and other medications such as diuretics, beta-blockers, and insulin.
