Azor (Olmesartan medoxomil/Amlodipine maleate) is a combine prescription medication used to treat high blood pressure. Lowering high blood pressure reduces the risk of a stroke or heart attack. Azor is a combination of two medicines. The active ingredients in Azor are Olmesartan medoxomil and Amlodipine maleate. Olmesartan medoxomil belongs to a class of drugs called angiotensin II receptor antagonist (ARB). It works by preventing the blood vessels from narrowing, improving blood flow, and lowering blood pressure. Amlodipine maleate belongs to a class of drugs called calcium channel blockers. It works by relaxing the heart and blood vessel muscles.

Get medical help immediately if you have any of these signs or an allergic reaction while taking Azor. The most common side effects of Azor may include the following:
• Dizziness;
• Flushing;
• Pounding heartbeats
Contact your doctor right away if you have any of the severe side effects, including:
• New or worsening chest pain;
• Rapid weight gain;
• Signs of a high potassium level, including nausea, weakness, loss of movement, irregular heartbeats

You should not take Azor if you are allergic to Olmesartan medoxomil, Amlodipine maleate, or any ingredient in Azor. Before you start using this medication, tell your doctor about your medical history, especially if you:

• Are pregnant or planning to be pregnant;

Tell your doctor about all your medications, including prescription, OTC, herbal supplements, and vitamins. There may be drug interactions between Azor and potassium supplements, salt substitutes, colesevelam, lithium, etc. Avoid cyclosporine, simvastatin, aspirin, or meloxicam with Azor. Tell your doctor if you are pregnant or planning to become pregnant. Olmesartan medoxomil can cause injury or death to a fetus if taken during the second or third trimester. Use effective birth control to prevent pregnancy when taking Azor. Inform your doctor if you are breastfeeding or planning to breastfeed. Olmesartan medoxomil passes into breast milk and may affect a nursing infant. Avoid breastfeeding while taking this drug. Take Azor precisely as prescribed by your doctor. Swallow the Azor tablet whole with water. You may take this medication with or without food. Keep using this drug even if you feel better. High blood pressure often has no symptoms. Azor may cause dizziness. Avoid getting up too fast from a sitting or lying position. Store at room temperature, away from heat and moisture.
