Arnicare (Pain Relief) is an over-the-counter medication used to relieve muscle pain and stiffness due to minor injuries, overexertion, and falls. The drug helps to reduce pain, swelling, and discoloration from bruises. Arnicare contains Arnica montana, a plant used for medicinal purposes. The drug is often used topically as a cream or gel. Arnicare belongs to a class of medications called pain relief medications. It works by inhibiting the production of chemicals called cyclooxygenase (COX) enzymes. COX enzymes help make prostaglandins, which are commonly found at injury sites. Arnicare works by reducing swelling and decreasing pain in affected areas.
