Ampyra (Dalfampridine) is a potassium Channel blocker. Ampyra is a prescription medication that is used to improve walking in people with multiple sclerosis (MS). This medication works by improving nerve conduction. Ampyra is a 10 mg extended release tablet for is taken twice daily. These doses should be taken approximately 12 hours apart.

Ampyra is available from Canada and New Zealand also called Fampyra manufactured by Biogen. We may sometimes carry the brand from Australia also called Fampyra manufactured by Biogen. There is no generic available for this medication. Fampyra is available in the dosage of 10 mg extended release tablets only.
The most common side effect of Ampyra is urinary tract infections. Other common side effects may include:
• Back pain;
• Dizziness;
• Headache;
• Insomnia;
• Nausea
Contact your doctor right away if you have any of these serious side effects:
• Mental or mood changes;
• Seizures;
• Severe allergic reactions

You should not take Ampyra if you are allergic to Dalfampridine or if you have any other allergies. This medication may make you dizzy. You should not drive, use machinery or do anything that requires you to be alert. Limit alcoholic beverages. Ampyra should not be used during pregnancy unless it is clearly needed. It is unknown if this medication passes into breast milk.
