AlmaGel Plus (Aluminum Hydroxide/Magnesium Hydroxide/Dimethicone) is an over-the-counter medication used to relieve the symptoms of heartburn, acid indigestion, and sour stomach, such as feeling sick, burping, feeling full, and regurgitation. Heartburn, acid indigestion, and sour stomach can result from lifestyle factors, medications, and certain foods like spicy foods, fatty foods, and citrus fruits. AlmaGel Plus is a combination of different ingredients. The active ingredients in AlmaGel Plus are Aluminum Hydroxide, Magnesium Hydroxide, and Dimethicone. Aluminum Hydroxide and Magnesium Hydroxide belong to a class of drugs called antacids. It works by neutralizing excess stomach acid. Dimethicone belongs to a class of medications called antiflatulents. It reduces the surface tension of gas bubbles in the digestive system. This helps to break down larger gas bubbles into smaller ones, making them easier to pass through belching or flatulence.

Get medical help immediately if you have any of these signs or an allergic reaction while using AlmaGel Plus. The most common side effects of AlmaGel Plus may include the following:
• Bloating;
• Constipation;
• Dizziness;
• Gas;
• Headache
Contact your doctor right away if you have any of the severe side effects, including:
• Signs of an allergic reaction, such as trouble breathing, hives, swelling of the face, lips, or throat;
• Signs of high blood aluminum levels, such as bone pain, seizures, confusion, and weakness;

There may be drug interactions between AlmaGel Plus and other medicines, such as doxycycline, ciprofloxacin, risedronate, digoxin, levothyroxine, and phosphate supplements. Tell your doctor if you are pregnant or planning to become pregnant. Although AlmaGel Plus is safe to use in pregnancy, frequent use of this medicine may have potential risks. Discuss the benefits and risks of using this medicine in pregnancy with your doctor. Inform your doctor if you are breastfeeding or planning to breastfeed. Small amounts of AlmaGel Plus pass into breast milk but are unlikely to harm a nursing infant. Use this medicine exactly as your doctor prescribes. AlmaGel Plus comes as a suspension. Shake the bottle well before using the drug. Use the measuring spoon provided with the medicine to measure your dose accurately. Take this medicine 1- 2 hours after meals and at bedtime. Refrigerating the suspension may improve the flavor. Do not freeze. If you still experience heartburn and indigestion after using this medicine for one week, inform your doctor. Store this drug at room temperature, away from light and moisture. Keep out of the reach of children.
