Zanidip (Lercanidipine) is a prescription medication used to treat adults with mild to moderate high blood pressure. Controlling high blood pressure helps to prevent strokes, heart disease, and a sudden heart attack. Lercanidipine belongs to a group of medications called calcium channel blockers of the dihydropyridine class. It works by blocking calcium from going into the muscles in the heart and blood vessels. Blocking the calcium makes the muscle cells relax and widen to lower blood pressure.
